Most apps fail before they launch

Not because of the code. Because too much gets built, too early. Twenty screens, a chat, notifications, a shop, a loyalty scheme. Eight months later the budget is gone and the app is still not in the store.

We do it the other way round. We start with one question: what does the app need to do for a customer to open it a second time? We build that first, put it in people’s hands and only then add more. The first version is small, but it is on the App Store and Google Play, and you quickly learn what works.

That is why every app project starts with a paid discovery workshop for €299. In it we agree the screens, the priorities and a fixed price. If we go ahead, the amount comes off the project.

What goes into an app project

  • Discovery workshop

One or two sessions where we decide what goes into the first version and what waits. You leave with screen sketches and a fixed price.

  • App design

Screens designed for thumbs, not for a mouse. You get a prototype you can tap through on your own phone.

  • Flutter, one codebase

The same app on iPhone and Android. You pay for one build, and updates reach both at once.

  • Server and admin panel

A Laravel backend with an admin panel for content, users and orders. The same backend can also power your website.

  • Push notifications

Reminders, confirmations and offers, sent at the right moment, not at three in the morning.

  • In-app payments

Card payments, subscriptions or in-app purchases, following Apple’s and Google’s rules.

  • App store release

We prepare the screenshots and descriptions and handle Apple’s and Google’s reviews. The app is published on your own developer account.

  • Updates after launch

Phones and operating systems change every year. We make sure the app keeps working on new versions.

  • Analytics

You know how many people use the app, which screens they open and where they give up, so you decide what comes next on real data.

The apps we have built

For Spa Therapy we built two apps: Spa Therapy Programări, where clients book their own sessions, and Spa Therapy Online, for the academy’s video courses. Both are connected to the same CRM and to the websites.

We also built SMS Flow, an app of our own. The same team builds the app and the server behind it, so there is never a “not our problem, ask the backend people”.

  • Flutter for the app, Laravel for the server
  • Connected to the existing website and CRM
  • Looked after by us after launch

Spa Therapy Programări: service page

Spa Therapy Online: video lesson

Do you need an app or a good website?

An app makes sense if

  • your customers come back often: bookings, subscriptions, repeat orders
  • you need notifications, the camera, location or offline access
  • you want your field team to work from their phones
  • customers are already asking you for an app

A website fits better if

  • people look you up once and then call
  • your first goal is showing up on Google
  • the budget is under €4,000
  • there is no clear reason yet for anyone to install it

From idea to the App Store

A good first version usually takes 3-4 months. Here is how we split it.

The Apple ($99 a year) and Google ($25, one-off) developer accounts are in your name. We help you open them. Payment: 50% when you approve the design and 50% when the app is ready and handed over to you for publishing, without waiting for store approval.

  1. Discovery workshop

    1-2 weeks

We agree what goes into the first version and you get the sketches and a fixed price. It costs €299, taken off the project if we go ahead.

  2. Design and prototype

    2-3 weeks

Every screen, in a prototype you tap through on your phone. We adjust until you are happy.

  3. Development with test builds

    6-10 weeks

You get the app on your phone through TestFlight and Google Play testing, with a new version every week.

  4. Release

    1-2 weeks

We submit the app to Apple and Google and handle the reviews. It usually takes a few days.

  5. Warranty and next steps

    12 months

We fix for free anything that does not work as promised. Based on the analytics, we decide together what comes next.

Three things to know before you build an app

1. An app does not promote itself

Nobody searches the App Store for your company name. People install your app because you recommend it: on your website, in your premises, on your invoices, in your emails. Think from the start about how it reaches the customers you already have.

2. The first version has to be small

The best apps started with two or three things done very well. The rest comes after you see what people really use. That is why we insist on the discovery workshop: it is the cheapest moment to cut what is not needed.

3. An app needs looking after

Apple and Google release new system versions and new store rules every year. An app nobody updates can be pulled from the store. Budget for maintenance too, from €149/month, so there are no surprises.

Questions about apps

Why Flutter and not native apps?

Because on a small or medium business budget, two separate apps, one for iPhone and one for Android, mean almost double the cost and double the maintenance. Flutter gives you a fast app on both platforms from one codebase. If your app has very special requirements, the workshop will tell us whether something else is worth it.

How much does a mobile app cost?

A good first version starts at €3,999. More complex apps with many integrations cost more. The €299 discovery workshop gives you a fixed price before you commit to the whole project.

Who owns the app and the code?

You do. The app is published on your own developer account, and you get the full code. If you want to continue with another team, you can.

Do you build the server too, or just the app?

We build all of it: the app, the server, the admin panel and the link to your website or internal system. One technical partner, one person who answers.

How long does App Store approval take?

Usually a few days. Sometimes Apple asks for changes. We know what they check, so most of the time we prepare the app to pass first time.

I only have the idea. Can you help?

Yes, that is what the discovery workshop is for. You leave with the sketches, the scope of the first version and a fixed price, even if you decide not to build right now.

Tell us about your idea.

It does not have to be fully worked out. Tell us what problem the app solves and who for. We reply within one working day.
